Concerning the Walk for Choice in NC
I needed a place to post this so I could link it to the FB page for this event. A close friend of mine is organizing the event for my home state and I wrote this for her out of a conversation we had.

today at lunch
I ate lunch with 4th grade today.
Towards the end of lunch, one of my kids came up to me and started using “do you like ___?” - our recent grammar.
“Do you like… ::looks around:: まど(window)?” -Yes, I do.
“Do you like… milk packet?” -No I don’t.
“Do you like… solar panel?” -Yes I do. I guess.
And then it got weird.

Update: Setsubun CONSPIRACY?
I was just informed during lunch time that when the older teachers were younger, there WAS no roll-sushi eating tradition on Setsubun.
It’s a commercial tactic! Shock!
Or… who knows? ;)

Why I love Setsubun
Today, in Japan, it’s Setsubun (節分). This is one of my favorite Japanese holidays.
It’s a holiday where you let out the old year, and bring in the new season. You throw soybeans at people (or dogs) wearing demon masks while yelling 鬼は外!福は内!(Demons out! Good luck in!). You then eat your age in soybeans. And to continue the eating-love, you get a big fat roll of maki-sushi, sit facing...
